Stewart Milne Construction has secured two contracts totalling £7 million from Moray Council and the University of Abertay, Dundee The company will build a new campus HQ for Moray Council to replace a network of satellite offices in the Elgin area. An existing supermarket site adjacent to the Council’s current premises in central Elgin will be redeveloped in an open plan format to meet top environmental standards to create a fit for purpose building offering improved direct service contact with the public. Environmental features will include: increased natural light; a smart ventilation system for seasonal comfort; high levels of thermal insulation applied to the building fabric; and increased air tightness to minimise heat loss. The second contract, for a programme of summer works worth £3 million, follows Stewart Milne Construction’s successful delivery of a project to redevelop areas of the Kydd Building at the University of Abertay last year. A new gable structure incorporating a lift will also be added.
