The contractor originally awarded this contract failed at an early stage. The client decided a new tender process was the way forward. As a result, we were faced with a site where steelwork erection had not been completed and it was necessary to check and validate all work which had been carried out and, where possible, come to a working arrangement with sub-contractors who had previously been involved.

The project also posed other challenges, principally the very constrained site, bounded on three sides by public footpaths and by a functioning school.

The completed building is a testament to everyone involved and accommodates a range of student services and leisure facilities. Externally the striking design features extensive copper cladding, natural stonework and glazing.
