| Stewart Milne Construction’s Jock Adie has been named as a finalist at this year’s Construction Manager of the Year Awards. Jock has been nominated for the award following his work on the refurbishment of the University of Abertay’s Kydd building in Dundee. Stewart Milne Construction recently completed the latest phase of work at the university which included: refurbishment of the reception area and two floors of the building; recladding of the external envelope to meet current building standards; and an extension to provide learning spaces and meeting rooms. Jock’s role was particularly crucial as the site was still occupied and required a robust management plan to minimise disruption within the university’s live environment. Commenting on Jock’s shortlisting, Bill Imlach, managing director of Stewart Milne Construction said: “We pride ourselves on providing customers the best possible service and in order to do so, we need to have the best possible team in place. Jock’s professional approach and experience in operating on occupied sites were imperative to the success of the Abertay project, so it is fantastic to see his hard work and commitment being recognised at an industry level.” The Construction Manager of the Year Awards are organised by the Chartered Institute of Building, attracting a significant number of entries from across the UK construction industry. Categories include: New build / Refurbishment; Housing / Accommodation; and PFI, covering projects of all sizes and values. The winners will be announced at a gala dinner in London at the Grosvenor Hotel, Park Lane. |
